Process Analysis, Documentation & Improvement
Nearly everything is a process. Fortunately most of them are simple enough that they don’t require any documentation or analysis - like dialing the telephone or writing a check. Most of our business processes however, can and would benefit from a little scrutiny and documentation. One of the best ways to identify and see problem areas, wasted time or effort, or weak spots in our processes is simply by documenting them in a visually accessible way. From there it is only a small leap to analyzing for improvement.
Flowcharts, algorithms, decision trees…. These are some of the visual aids that help visualize anything from a process to a computer program’s queries and operations to project plans or strategic plans.
